He’s the 21st player in the last 23 years to score on his Posh debut so a perfect time to look back and find out what happened to others who started their careers at London Road with a goalscoring bang.
Some turned into damp squibs, but others went on to enjoy excellent careers at Posh and elsewhere.
5. GWION EDWARDS
Edwards moved to Posh from Crawley in July 2016 and scored a late winning goal (pictured) in a 3-2 success at Rochdale on the opening day of the 2016-17 League One season. He scored 16 goals in 64 games for Posh before moving to Ipswich Town in July 2018. Edwards now plays for League One promotion chasers Wigan.
6. TOM NICHOLS
Striker Nichols completed a move to Posh from Exeter in January 2016 and scored the only goal of the game on his debut in a 1-0 League One win at Chesterfield. He is pictured celebrating that goal. Nichols scored 14 goals in 58 games for Posh before moving to Bristol Rovers. He also played for Cheltenham, but is now at Crawley.
7. MILES ADDISON
Free agent Addison arrived at Posh as defensive cover in November, 2015 and promptly scored (pictured) in a 3-2 League One win over Barnsley at London Road. He made just three appearances before spending time at Kilmarnock and Nuneaton. He's now retired.
8. LEE ANGOL
Striker Angol joined Posh from Luton in July 2015, but had to wait until September to make his debut at Oldham. He scored twice in a 5-1 League One win and is pictured celebrating one of them. He scored 12 goals in 55 Posh appearances before going on a Football League tour to Mansfield, Lincoln, Shrewsbury, Lincoln again and Orient. He's now at Bradford City.
