But they’ve had so me brilliant number ones in the past.
Here are my top 13 Posh goalkeepers of all time, in reverse order. They have to be goalkeepers I’ve seen in action (first game, 1972) and they have to have made at least 15 appearances.
My judgement is based on how they played for Posh. I also include information on what happened to them after they left the club.
Let me know what you think.

5. 9th MICK DREWERY
Posh years: 1968-74. Posh appearances: 234. This consistent performer was twice an ever-present in his six seasons at Posh and missed just eight games in his last four full seasons at the club. He kept a club record seven clean sheets in a row in the 1973-74 Fourth Division title-winning season before losing his place to brilliant loan goalkeeper Eric Steele midway through that campaign. Posh was Drewery's sole professional club and he retired after suffering a bad back injury in 1976. Photo: David Lowndes

6. 8th KEITH WAUGH
Posh years: 1976-81. Posh appearances: 227. Moved down from his local club Sunderland to Posh and was a very solid goalkeeper at London Road even though he was relegated with the club from Division Three in the 1977-78 season. After leaving Posh he played well at bigger clubs Sheffield United and Bristol City, appearing in two Wembley finals for the latter. Finished his career at Watford in 1993 after which he joined the police force. Waugh was a useful all-round cricketer for Market Deeping, while playing for Posh. Photo: David Lowndes

7. 7th: PAUL JONES
Posh years: 2011-2012. Posh appearances: 41. Stepped up when Joe Lewis picked up an injury in the League One play-off semi-final first leg at MK Dons in 2011. He kept clean sheets in the second leg and in the final at Old Trafford. Jones played 35 Championship matches the following season which was a decent campaign by Posh standards at that level. He was solid and reliable rather than a keeper who made flashy saves, but surprisingly left Posh at the end of the 2011-12 season to join lower level Crawley. Went on to join many Football League clubs without playing much at all, but made 45 appearances for King's Lynn as they were relegated from the National League last season. He could appear at Peterborough Sports next season. Photo: David Lowndes

8. 6th MARK TYLER
Posh years: 1994-2009 & 2016. Posh appearances: 494. A bona fide club legend who spent 16 seasons at Posh after debuting as a 17 year-old. Only Sir Tommy Robson has made more appearances for the club. It's said a lack of height stopped him progressing beyond League One level, but his athleticism and safe hands made him one of the best lower division 'keepers of his time. Darren Ferguson ruthlessly (and probably quite rightly) axed him to make way for Joe Lewis and Tyler left for Bury (on loan) and Luton (permanently). Tyler wasn't far short of 300 appearances for the Hatters before returning to Posh as a goalkeeping coach. He's still here doing that job, and he sneaked in another three appearances before formally retiring aged 44 last year! Photo: David Lowndes
