Posh have re-signed players but are yet to move in the transfer market, as the players returned to training yesterday (June 24).
With the announcement that club captain Mark Beevers has signed a new three-year contract at the Weston Homes Stadium this week, Posh’s tally of promotion winners tied down to new deals has reached seven.
Beevers joins Christy Pym, Dan Butler, Frankie Kent, Nathan Thompson, Ronnie Edwards and Ricky-Jade Jones in committing to the club for next season’s foray into the Championship and beyond but they are yet to be joined by any new faces; the key word for Posh fans this summer has been patience.
As co-owner Darragh MacAnthony said in a playful Instagram message: “Dont stress, trust El President, all is coming. I know we are all desperate for signings but you can’t rush the process. We’re going to have a great season in the Championship, we’re going to attack that bad boy. I am working hard, don’t you worry about that.”
While the club are working hard to capture their targets, their divisional rivals have been doing the exact same and have got a number of those deals over the line.
Below are some of the key deals already done by Posh’s potential rivals this season.

9. Henri Lansbury, 30, centre midfielder, Luton, free transfer from Bristol City
A classic example of a seasoned midfielder and someone Luton will hope to rely on to drag them out if they do make their predicted slide down the table this season. He’s been around the block with spells at Watford, Norwich, West Ham, Nottingham Forest, Aston Villa and Bristol City, all in the Championship. He has often been criticised for not producing his best though and became marginalised at Villa, even before they won promotion to the Premier League. He seems like the kind of player that would benefit from a manager putting his full faith in him to use his experience to lead a side. A slightly smaller pond, in Luton, may be the place for him. Verdict: Show him some love and he will produce the goods. Photo: Nathan Stirk/Getty Images
10. Andre Dozzell, 22, midfielder, QPR, £1m from Ipswich
One of the very few deals in the division so far that has actually seen money change hands between clubs and not an insignificant amount either. Dozzell was persuaded to move on from his hometown club after 13 years and almost 100 senior appearances by Mark Warburton. With the signings of Charlie Austin and Sam Field on permanent deals, the Rs are making a case for pushing up from midtable well into the play-off mix. Dozzell’s career at Ipswich has been somewhat stop-start, no thanks to an ACL injury in 2017, but he managed 43 games in League One last year, his career best by far, and looked best in an anchorman role at the heart of the midfield. Expect him to grow into the role a level up. Verdict: One for the future, may need a little time. Photo: Getty Images
