Posh have signed their fair share of duds, including many that looked excellent purchases at the time of their arrival.
Here is a list of signings who didn’t live up to expectations, some supplied by Posh fans and others from PT Posh writer Alan Swann.
No members of the current Posh squad were considered.

5. DAVID LANGAN
Langan was another high-class player whose time at Posh was bedevilled by injury. Mick Jones signed a 31 year-old right-back for £25k from Bournemouth who had played 25 times for the Republic of Ireland and enjoyed some big money moves around the Football League, including one to Oxford (pictured) with whom he won the League Cup and the Division Two title. Sadly he's best remembered at Posh for becoming the first sub to be sent on and then taken off again in a home game against Hartlepool in 1989. He was on the pitch for a handful of minutes before injury claimed him. He managed just 23 games for Posh.
6. ISAAC BUCKLEY-RICKETTS
This winger helped England win the Under 19 European Championships and Manchester City were so sure of his ability they inserted a 'buy back' clause into his Posh contract when he moved to London Road in July, 2018. Lord knows why as he made just one start for Posh, and even then he was hauled off at half-time in a Football League Trophy tie at MK Dons with his side 3-0 down. Buckley-Ricketts is now playing for National League North side Southport.
7. HOWARD FORINTON
The story goes that Posh skipper/coach Steve Castle went to see club owner Peter Boizot and pleaded with him to sign striker Forinton from Birmingham City after watching him cause havoc in a reserve game in 1999. A record Posh fee for a striker of £250k was splashed out and it looked money well spent when Forinton bashed seven goals in his first 12 matches for the club. But his form, not helped by a rib injury, collapsed and he struggled for the rest of his three years at Posh during which he started just 39 games.
8. PETER KENNEDY
Another international full-back (Northern Ireland this time) who played poorly for Posh in a short time at the club between 2004 and 2006. He had played and scored in the Premier League for Watford. The only impact he made on us at the PT was when he rang up to moan about the marks he was getting!
