It’s a very small sample of games for some players, but we did find someone worthy of an an A grade!
Grading key: A-Star pupil, B-Consistently good, C-Satisfactory, D-Could do much better, E-Bottom of the class.

17.
SAMMIE SZMODICS: Appearances: 19. Goals: 2. The excitement that accompanied this attacking midfielder’s return to the Weston Homes Stadium was quickly diluted by some lacklustre performances. Szmodics hung on to his starting place for so long as his main rivals for a place failed to impress either, but eventually a 17 year-old replaced him which hopefully has hurt. No League One goals since September 19 which is shocking for a player of his ability. GRADE: D

18.
JACK TAYLOR: Appearances: 19. Goals: 5. Considering the lack of support he’s received in the centre of midfield the full Irish international squad member has kept his own standards high. He is a fine passer of the ball, a combative tackler and he can score great goals as he did against Fleetwood and Bristol Rovers in particular. There is much more to come from a player who would profit from a more advanced role. GRADE: B+

19.
NATHAN THOMPSON: Appearances: 15. Goals: 2. This experienced defender rivalled Dembele for best player honours in the early part of the season, but an injury and then a clumsily-activated suspension slowed him down. He’s an automatic pick as he combines aggressive defence with quality on the ball. His performance in the middle of a back three against Rochdale suggests that’s the position he will now occupy. GRADE: B

20.
JOE WARD: Appearances: 14. Goals: 2. Added another string to his bow this season with some quality goal assists. He led the League One scoring charts in that department until he picked up a knee injury. Ward is quick and looks to be playing more positively this season with his best form arriving when used as one of three forward players behind Clarke-Harris. A strong second-half of the season is expected. GRADE: B
