Fearsome firepower is taking Peterborough United to the Championship and it was evident again tonight (April 16) as Posh beat local rivals Northampton Town 3-1 at the Weston Homes Stadium to move level on points with League One leaders Hull City and a massive eight points clear of third-placed Sunderland.
Here are the PT player and manager ratings for the game.
Ratings key: 10-Brilliant, 9-Outstanding, 8-Very Good, 7-Good, 6-Okay, 5-Poor, 4-Dreadful.
5.
MARK BEEVERS: Dozy piece of defending to concede spot-kick and Alex Jones gave him the odd moment of concern in the first-half. A strong second half when he kept things very simple 7.
6.
REECE BROWN: Often held onto the ball too long and was often brushed aside by physically stronger opponents. Surprised he stayed on so long as the game appeared to be crying out for Ethan Hamilton's extra physicality 5.5.
7.
JACK TAYLOR: Took control of the game after the break and two wonderful passes helped create two decisive goals. Some excellent long passes and many neat and tidy shorter ones. Just a top, top player 8.
8.
JOE WARD: Had the beating of left-back Mills so it was a surprise Posh didn't make more of his superiority until the second half. Ran offside a bit too often before the break. Assist on the final goal and defended well in the final 20 minutes 7.
