Some were quite famous, others had decent back stories, while some delivered infamously poor performances before leaving London Road.
Here the PT remembers 20 of them. How many do you remember?

IZALE MCLEOD. Apps 4. This striker had played well against Posh in his MK Dons days, but by the time Jim Gannon signed him on loan from Charlton to try and help save Posh from relegation to League One in 2010 he'd lost his spark, and, so it seemed, most of his energy. He never looked like scoring for us.

ALAN SHEEHAN. Apps 2. The defender with the cultured left-foot (right) came to Posh on loan from Bradford City late in the 2014-15 League One season and barely featured. Went on to help Luton win back-to-back promotions. Photo: PA

STEVE EARLE. Apps 2. John Barnwell fancied this Fulham and Leicester City star would enhance his Posh midfield when he arrived on loan from Filbert Street in the 1977-78 season, but at the age of 32 his legs had gone and he was soon sent packing. Photo: Midlands

STEVE ZENCHUCK. Apps 1. The 17 year-old Posh youth team goalkeeper earned a fairytale call-up to the first-team in 1983 when first choice David Seaman picked up an injury. Zenchuck played well in a 2-1 win at Blackpool, but left Posh at the end of that season and never played in the Football League again. Renowned in local football as an outstanding centre-back.
