Peterborough United midfielder is a man on a mission after a frustrating first season at the club
Frustrated Peterborough United midfielder Ben Woods is a man on a mission.
The 23 year-old started just 14 League One games for Posh last season following an August move from League Two side Accrington Stanley.

Woods was injured when he got here and injured again for most of the second half of the season so he’s attacked pre-season training with the ferocity of a man keen to make up for lost time.
"Last season wasn’t good enough,” Woods, who started his career at Manchester United, admitted in an interview with the Posh Plus service during the club’s training week in Spain. “I know I was injured for a chunk of it, but it was still very frustrating. I suffered a finger/hand injury in the first game of the season when playing for Accrington and that killed me after I’d worked hard in pre-season.

"This time I’m determined to get a solid pre-season behind me with no interruptions so I can get back to playing my best football. I want to play 40-50 games like I have in previous seasons and to start chipping in with goals and assists. I started pre-season early as I want make sure I’m at my fittest.
"I was taught at Manchester United that there was no such things a being a specialist 6, 8 or 10 as the idea was to be able to play in all three positions. I’m confident I can do that, although 6 or 8 would suit me best.
"I had a good run of form in November and December last season when the gaffer came in and now I want to show that form for most of the season.
"We didn’t start last season well as so many of us came in late so we know we need to start better. That’s why pre-season is massive as it sets the foundations for the whole campaign.
"There are pros and cons to coming away for training. I love it as I love getting to know the players better. We are with each other for 24 hours which helps the bonding and unity, which are very important.”
Woods made 26 appearances in all competitions for Posh and scored one goal, in an impressive 3-0 home win over Stockport County in November.
