Peterborough United linked with a move for Barnet winger, and not for the first time

Peterborough United have again been linked with a move for Barnet winger Ryan Glover.

Posh were reportedly interested in the 25 year-old during the January transfer window, but decided against making any signings at all in that month.

Now the link with a player who can also operate in a more central position has resurfaced. Posh will be in the market for wide players, if the system they operated for much of last season is retained, as wingers Abraham Odoh, Cian Hayes and Declan Frith have all been placed on the transfer list.

Posh boss Luke Williams, who is on the record as preferring a 3-4-3 formation which makes out and out wingers less essential, attended a summit with the club’s senior staff in Miami last week when recruitment was on top of the agenda.

Glover remains under contract at Barnet and was listed by the club on their retained list for next season. He played all 46 League Two games for ‘The Bees’ last season scoring four goals and claiming seven assists for a team who finished eighth, one place outside the play-offs.

Posh have had great success with players purchased from Barnet in recent years. Jack Taylor, Ephron Mason-Clark and Ronnie Edwards all moved to Posh from North London. Taylor and Mason-Clark will be playing Premier League football next season, while Edwards is at Championship club QPR.

Posh would face competition if Glover is made available for transfer. Several League One clubs, including Barnsley and Wigan, have previously shown interest in a player who started his career at Bournemouth before forging a successful career at National League level with Aldershot. Barnet signed Glover from Aldershot in August 2024 and he has gone to make 93 appearances, scoring 12 goals for his current club.

Posh have also reportedly shown interest in Aston Villa youngster Tommi O’Reilly who spent last season in impressive form at League Two side Crewe Alexandra, but a £1 million price tag makes a permanent move unlikely.
