Peterborough United chairman confident his manager is at London Road for the long haul
Peterborough United chairman Darragh MacAnthony is confident first-team manager Luke Williams is at London Road for the long haul.
The outstanding work of Williams since he took charge at Posh at the end of October has started to attract plenty of attention. The manager has steered Posh from bottom to eighth place ahead of a tough League One trip to Bradford City on Saturday.

Lots of managerial sackings have taken place in recent weeks, but MacAnthony is relaxed about any of them making a play for his 44 year-old boss.
MacAnthony was asked the question via a Posh fan on his Hard Truth Podcast. He replied: “I don't want to lose Luke. He is still young so he has lots of time on his side. He’s been at a bigger club and he will have learnt from that experience. It would have be one hell of a club to get him.
"We are at the early stages of our ‘marriage’ but I want ‘wedding anniversaries’ with him. Only good things will happen to him. He’s a man who doesn’t have a bad bone in his body. He spent more time after the Mansfield game complimenting the opposition than his own team! That’s just how he is.
"I know of managers who use agents to link themselves with every job going. Karl Robinson’s was the master of that, but Luke doesn’t play games.
"When we were going to change manager I had two people text me promising they could keep us up. I immediately dismissed them as I wasn’t thinking like that. I knew we had more than enough to climb the table. We weren’t in the Championship after all.
"When I spoke to Luke I told him not to obsess about the league table. I didn’t even know we were bottom as I don’t look at tables. I just told him to put a smile on the players’ faces and to develop our youngsters.
"And we are now becoming the team I wanted us to become. We are still learning to win consistently, but we have won games well and we’ve won games ugly, like at Mansfield. There might have been some concern about our 'pretty’ footballers playing on bad pitches, but there is a steely resistance about us this season. We also dug out wins at Port Vale, Rotherham and Wycombe before the Mansfield game.
"The Mansfield pitch was an issue and I understand the Bradford pitch is similar. It’s shame we had to battle for 102 minutes on Tuesday night, while Bradford had their feet up, but any time we’ve done well in League One we’ve been up there with the highest goalscorers and we are again, despite only scoring two goals in our first six matches.
"We currently don’t have the depth because of our injuries, but we have young players gaining valuable experience and developing into some of the best players in League One.
"I keep saying if we are in touch with the play-off places with 10 games to go and the pitches become better we have a chance. We have the pace to expose tired defences on better pitches.”
Posh have scored 45 goals in 31 League One games, the fourth-highest tally in the division after top two Cardiff City (55) and Lincoln City (52) and fifth-placed Huddersfield Town (53).
