Peterborough United chairman backs boss to turn new signing into a League One force
Peterborough United chairman Darragh MacAnthony is backing first-team boss Luke Williams to work some magic and turn new signing Owura Edwards into a League One force.
The arrival of winger Edwards at London Road on Wednesday following his release from League Two side Colchester United didn’t excite all Posh fans. Edwards struggled to break into a team that went on to finish 12th, 12 points from the play-offs. The 25 year-old started just 15 League Two matches and scored just once, a spectacular winning goal from minutes from the end of a game at Bristol Rovers.

But MacAnthony has called for patience from a player who had shown real promise in the 2024-25 season when he scored scored seven League Two goals after starting 30 games.
Edwards worked with Williams when both were at Bristol City several years ago.
MacAnthony, who has been quieter than usual, preferring to let the creative minds of his media team deliver signing announcements, did interact with fans on social media site X on Wednesday.
MacAnthony said: “I’m glad to have Owura on board to strengthen our squad. The gaffer worked with him for a year and wanted him to work with Kyrell Lisbie on the left. We flogged Kyrell to bits minutes-wise last season, rarely taking him off in his first season in the League.
"Owura is rapid and had gone stale last season in League Two in my opinion after a move to a top League One side fell down late in a transfer window, but he has a lot of upside and great ability that we now have to harness and get the best out of him.
"It’s important we have options with weapons that suit our management team. Give him some love Posh fans and some time.”
Centre-back Tom O’Connor also returned to Posh on Wednesday making it five new signings as pre-season training for the first-team squad looms. Goalkeeper Collin Adeng-Ndi, midfielder Harrison Jones and defender Evan Weir have also arrived at London Road.
