Peterborough United boss Robbie Savage has become a 'broken record' as familiar failings cause a Carabao Cup exit
Peterborough United boss Robbie Savage admits he’s become a broken record over his side’s failure to take their scoring chances.
Posh were again left to rue missed opportunities as they were knocked out of the Carabao Cup by a 2-0 defeat to Bradford City at Valley Parade on Tuesday.

Posh conceded a goal in each half and trailed to a set piece for the third consecutive game, but saw great opportunities for Ethan Williams, Vernon Masara and Bolu Shofowoke all missed.
Savage was left deflated at full time. He said: “I’m devastated. You can’t come here and create as many chances and big moments as we did and not take them. We can't keep doing it again and again and not take the opportunities.

“The first goal was our own doing and the second is the same. They have had some one-on-ones, but at the time of the second, we were so on top. They were on the ropes, we knew it and everyone in the crowd knew it as they were quiet.
“We started the game really well, created numerous opportunities. Ethan’s shot that hit Danny Ormerod was going in, Owura has to just square the ball to Vernon and he hits the goalie. We then have to score two or three in the second half.
“The game has come down to moments in both boxes. The first is an inswinging corner and the keeper has missed the ball and we’ve lost the man at the post and it’s been put in. It was a tough blow, but we recovered really well.
“We were working on getting in the final third with intent and we were on the front foot in the second half. The lads gave everything physically, but even at 2-0 we’ve missed a one-on-one and if you don’t take your chances you don’t win games.
“We’ve had 16 shots again and only three on target again. Our team could play in the Under 21 league, the average age is 21, but we’ve got to learn and learn quickly. It’s got to mean so much to you to miss a goal or concede a goal, in training as well as during games.
“I’m a broken record saying this team can play so well, but moments cost them. We have to win duels and headers, second balls and the forwards have to do their jobs.
"It’s a very good squad, you can see that, they’ve won at Leicester, they’ve gone to Huddersfield and here and we’ve created real moments of quality. They have to believe how good they are because as soon as it clicks for them they will move up the table.
“They are young, but have to learn quickly. When you are on top you have to score and that is the most frustrating and devastating thing for his group.
“I will pick the group up, we will go again. They will be shattered and we’ll see who is available for the weekend.
“The subs have got to come on and be up to speed. The players who made mistakes will learn from it and will have the support from me. They are great kids and we will give them everything, but inevitably we will have to learn quick as we are in a relegation battle, let’s be totally be honest.
“We shouldn’t be there though, under Luke Williams we missed chances and we’re missing chances now. The goals tonight are our mistakes and we don’t seem to score goals like that ourselves.”
Posh are back in League One action on Saturday (October 31, 3pm) with a home game against Luton Town, who currently sit eighth in League One after four straight wins.
