Peterborough United boss expects 'lots of business' before the summer transfer window deadline
Peterborough United boss Luke Williams is expecting ‘lots of business’ to be done before the summer transfer window deadline.
The window slams shut on Tuesday (September 1) at 11pm, just over an hour after the final whistle has been blown in a League One game between Posh and Stevenage.

Posh have completed nine deals this summer, but are now believed to be chasing a 10th in order to offer more support at centre-back. Posh’s leaky defence was on full show at Blackpool in their 4-0 defeat on Saturday afternoon.
Sam Hughes is still out having not played since April, 2025 because of calf issues. George Nevett is still on the books but, despite travelling to Blackpool, he was left out of the squad on Saturday. He also remains on the transfer list. Eighteen-year-old Lucca Mendonca was also left out of the squad and full-back Evan Weir has been preferred to him at centre-back at times.
Nevett is joined on the transfer list alongside Chris Conn-Clarke, Donay O’Brien-Brady, Klaidi Lolos and Declan Frith. Conn-Clarke has been a consistent member of the first-team squad this season, but was an unused substitute at Bloomfield Road. O’Brien-Brady and Lolos have been linked with moves abroad with O’Brien-Brady travelling to Belgium in search of a move earlier this summer.
Speaking after the defeat in the North West, Williams was asked whether he was looking to bring in a new defender and he confirmed that was the case as well as stating that he expected ‘a lot of business to be done’ before Tuesday.
Williams said: “It looks like we could do with more help and more options there so that is something that will probably happen.
“I’m sure there’s going to be a fair bit of movement between now and Tuesday. Let’s see, I’m sure there will be a lot of business.
"Young players in particular need to play to develop their game.”
