Peterborough United boss backs his struggling goalkeeper
Peterborough United boss Luke Williams has backed his goalkeeper Alex Bass after another difficult game.
Bass endured another poor afternoon in a difficult start to the season as Posh were thumped 4-0 in a League One fixture at Blackpool on Saturday afternoon.

He was involved in a mix-up with Tom O’Connor as both just left the ball just yards from goal, allowing Jordan Williams to flick the ball in. Bass was also unfortunate to see saves from efforts pushed straight to Dion Charles and Jerry Yates for the second and fourth goals.
The Posh keeper - who starred last season - was also found lacking in the first game of the season away at Bradford, missing a punch for the first and failing to stop an innocuous cross getting through for the second.
Posh have now conceded seven goals in three league games and only kept one clean sheet in their first five matches, in the opening day Carabao Cup match at Bristol Rovers.
Posh signed highly-rated Southend United goalkeeper Collin Andeng-Ndi in the summer, who is yet to make his debut, but Williams has put his full backing behind Bass.
Williams said: “It’s a really tough position because everything is amplified. He’s brilliant and I back him. He’s a fantastic goalkeeper and he’s going to have another fantastic season.
“It’s not been completely plain-sailing for him so far, but Alex Bass will be absolutely fine.”
