The PT has found six Posh promotion winners who also turned out for Stevenage, plus a couple of others who often excelled at London Road as well as a manager who didn’t!

9. NATHAN THOMPSON
The experienced defender was a key man in the last Posh promotion, from League One in the 2020-21 season. He made 131 appearances for Posh scoring four goals before joining Stevenage on a free transfer in June 2023. Thompson played 51 times for Stevenage and is now at MK Dons. Photo: David Lowndes

10. BEN THOMPSON
This midfielder joined Posh from Gillingham in June 2022, but he started just 16 games for Posh, scoring once, before Steve Evans took him to Stevenage after 12 months at London Road. He made 41 appearances for Stevenage and is now at League Two promotion chasers Bromley. Photo: Joe Dent

11. GRAHAM WESTLEY
This manager enjoyed considerable success at Stevenage. In a second spell at the club he guided them into the Football League and then steered them to promotion from League Two. He was appointed Posh manager in succession to Dave Robertson in September 2015 and initially inspired great success with an attractive style of football. But it all fell apart in the second half of that season and chairman Darragh MacAnthony lost patience and sacked him after a reign of just seven months. Photo: Joe Dent

12. CHRIS WHELPDALE
A right winger signed from Billericay in May 2007 became an unsung hero of those three Posh promotions under legendary boss Darren Ferguson. Whelpdale scored 13 goals in 144 appearances for Posh before leaving for Gillingham in July, 2011. He left the Gills on a free transfer for Stevenage in June 2014 and made 70 appearances for his new club, scoring 15 times. Photo: PT
