Optimism and pessimism in equal measures from Peterborough United fans after five League One games, but a couple have demanded drastic action

Some fans are more optimistic about Peterborough United’s season than they were at the start of the 2026-27 League One campaign.

But others remain pessimistic after a start which has yielded just four points from five games.

There have been calls to keep the faith, but also calls for manager Luke Williams to be replaced after a run of just two wins in 20 League One games stretching back to the end of last season.

Going forward we look very good. We have very good midfielders. Just need to cut out defensive errors and take our chances. I’m confident we’ll be top half – @jcposh57

It’s been a mixed bag. We look better going forward even if three goals in five league games suggests otherwise. Defensively we aren’t good enough. We’ve conceded nine goals and all were down to individual errors. If this doesn’t improve quickly we are in for a long season – @cooper_derren.

Not as rubbish, but still not very good. We just cant always be unlucky every game – @davidwapples

It will be a long and hard season. Overall we will improve and do enough to stay up, or even threaten mid-table. Then it will become rinse and repeat when the transfer windows open again. We are were we are for a reason – @CHAMM24

Darragh needs to do Luke Williams and the Posh fans a favour and put him and us out of our misery. Nice bloke just not good enough – @Werrington2

Haven't seen one really decent team yet so based on that we will be fine – @Mark9697

Definitely more optimistic, once it fully clicks, we eliminate the silly mistakes and start putting our chances away then we’ll be flying. It looks like being a poor league this season, everybody beating everybody else so we’ll be alright. Need results soon though! – @JamesGWesley

More optimistic, especially after the Wednesday display. We need some wins though – @romysdad

Not optimistic. Keep playing the same full backs and no surprise when the mistakes happen. Two wins in 20 so manager should not be in a job – @alanposh

At some point these chances have to start going in and someone will get walloped – @ShiellB1.

After the Sheffield Wednesday game I can see a bit of light, but much will depend on our reaction at MK – @kevwilson58kev

Seeds of hope. Wasn't optimistic after Stevenage game, but against Wednesday every single player put in a shift. Luke Williams is passive, but he has a plan. It will work or not work. Thats been football forever. Without Darragh MacAnthony we would be playing Peterborough Sports – @SidDay1

The league table does not lie. Defence absolutely awful! Need more up front. Need to be stronger. Need to learn how to trap and control the ball – @LynnSex85904773

Ownership blustery. Management lightweight. Recruitment average. Team naive. Defence fragile. Shooting weak. Optimism 0 Pessimism 1 AET. Likely outcome - League 2 playoff winners 2027/28 – @TobyWoody
