Peterborough United travel to Deepdale today (August 21, 3pm) to tackle the Championship’s bottom club Preston North End.

Preston have lost all three of their league games so far this season.

Posh should have forward Sammie Szmodics back in their squad after a two-match absence.

Posh gift Johnson a shooting chance on the edge of the box, with a loose pass from Grant. He drives into the centre and tries to curl around Pym but the keeper is able to fall on it.

That was a real chance for Demeble to put Posh level. Might not be a better one but a long way to go. Kent has now moved into the middle of a three and Thompson to the right.

Posh getting into this now, good ball from Ward into JCH in the box, only just ahead of him in the dive.

Yellow card for Whiteman for a cynical foul on Dembele on the edge of the box. Grant lifts the free kick well over.

50 mins OFF THE LINE

Dembele has a golden chance to get Posh back in it as he dazzles again, he goes past two on the left of the box, touches it past Iverson but then two Preston players get bacak on the line and its Van Den Berg who clears off the line. He just needed to lift it, Burrows fires it back in but by that point there are too many bodies in the way. Half0hearted appeals for handball.

First time cross from Ward but nowhere near anyone. Before that Knight played a weak pass on the edge of the Preston box and was then left vulnerable as Johnson led the break. Earl’s ball in goes to the backpost there Sinclair is free but just fails to make contact.

Dembele flagged offside as Posh looked to mount an attack. They have looked calmer on the ball in these first few minutes.

Early ball from Whiteman to Sinclair just over hit as the hosts look to get straight back from where they left off.

Poor half from Posh, changes needed from Ferguson. Lucky to be 1-0 really but Posh are still in it. The midfield has offered nothing and the passing has been too slow and predictable and has failed to cause Preston a problem. It can only go up from here but this Preston side has little confidence and has not registered a point this season, Posh have made them look like title contenders.
