LIVE BLOG: Posh vs Bristol City

Key Events

  • Taylor, Grant and Clarke-Harris are replaced by Szmodics, Ward and Coventry
  • Clarke-Harris drops out of the squad
  • 2-2 at the break after 3 goals in 8 minutes

Posh could have hit the front again there. Burrows flings in a cross to the post, Ward touches it down to Thompson , he tires to do too much though and is not keen on hitting it on his right, he does manage to poke towards goal through a few bodies but it’s weak and the defence block.

Well that’s been a while. Posh don’t get the first corner way well enough and for the second it goes to the backpost at there is Atkinson arriving to plant his header into the top corner.

Becoming a spell now for Bristol City but Posh can do with more defending like that from Wiemann, they whip in a free-kick from the right into the penalty spot, he gets away from his man but he actually hooks the ball backwards.

Oh dear Ronnie, dwelled on the ball too long as it dropped on the right, O’Dowda robs him and Kent has to rescue the situation by getting to the ball ahead of Wiemann. Cornell acrobatically punches away the corner.

Thompson really is struggling out there at the moment, the Posh right under siege again as Pring makes a burst into the box, Norburn comes across and Pring just throws himself to the ground, referee sees through it.

Great tackle Butler. Thompson went to sleep, O’Dowda in again on the left, pulls a ball across to the six-yard box, looks like it’s going to Martin but Butler is there to make a fantastic block.

First goal of the season for Szmodics and it’s a fantastic curling finish from just outside the left of the box after Burrows’ pass.

More pace and purpose when Bristol City get forward, they’re getting men in the box and asking questions of Posh. Posh break away just them but Dembele just does not react, he gets it all the way to the by-line and puts in a first-time cross, which is perhaps all he can do but equally, there is not a blue shirt in there.
