LIVE BLOG: Middlesbrough vs Posh

Key Events

  • 2-0 L
  • Posh still looking for first away points
  • Beevers expected to return to the squad after injury
  • Middlesbrough set to have just 15 fit players, including 3 goalkeepers
  • Boro sit 15th but have scored one less goal than Posh (11 to 12)

Interesting one. Ward replaces Dembele.

For as good as Posh look for a few moments Boro come forward and find these moments of promise. Watmore drifts away from Taylor on the edge of the box on the right, fires a shot across the goal, which Sporar almost gets on the end of as he dives.

Boro break on Posh all the way from the final third on the left. Tavernier brings it away and looks to Ikpeazu in the centre but across steps Edwards to cut it out and Posh start a break of their own, Dembele pushes the ball past Bamba but stumbles and Thompson collects, he feeds it to Dembele again who drifts out to the right but his back heel into the box doesn’t find Thompson, who has not made a run into a good area and the move breaks down. Could have been a chance at either end.

Yellow for Ikpeazu as he blocks off Knight, Busby has been very inconsistent with his cards and fouls but that’s a yellow he should give.

Break in play as Tavernier received treatment but it’s quickly over and Boro come again down the right, Crooks is allowed time to get a ball in from by the corner flag on the right and Ikpeazu gets there infront of Beevers but heads it over when well-placed.

Posh have every man back in their own box now but still Knight lets Ikpeazu roll him and fire across goal. The crowd are just starting to get a bit agitated, they sense Posh are there for the taking, could work in Posh’s favour.

Posh just being forced back every time they get the ball and try to bring it out, far too slow and not enough movement.

Boro spring one of their devastating moments down the wing, it's where all their joy has come from, Sporar flashes a ball across the face of the goal and Cornell is stranded and then relieved that Crooks doesn’t tap it in.

One of those games where you screaming for Dembele to do more. Dembele again chooses not to pick the ball up and run at the defence when he has space about 30 yards out but play it to Thompson who is more closely marked and his ball has too much pace on it to allow him to control it when he gets it back.

Tavrnier flashes one just wide of Cornell’s goal from the right, end to end start.
