Incentive for Peterborough United is massive when they tackle a Stevenage side who will be missing their skipper

Peterborough United will jump up to 18th in League One if they can beat Stevenage at the Weston Homes Stadium on Tuesday (November 25, 7.45pm kick off).

And the motivation is even higher for Stevenage who would leap to to the top of the table if they can become the first team to beat a Posh team managed by Luke Williams.

Posh, who will be seeking a third straight League One home win without conceding a goal, will overhaul Exeter City, Doncaster Rovers and Reading with victory against out-of-form Stevenage.

Stevenage are sixth games in hand on all the teams above them, but they haven’t won any of their last three League One games. They were held to a 0-0 draw by Doncaster on Saturday when skipper Carl Piergianni, a former Posh player, picked up a fifth yellow card of the campaign which will lead to an immediate one-game ban.

Plymouth Argyle won the battle of the bottom two at Port Vale on Saturday to join Posh on 16 points. Blackpool also moved onto 16 points after claiming a last-gasp equaliser at Leyton Orient this afternoon. The home side had played with 10 men for most of the second-half. Posh have a superior goal difference, and have played fewer games, than Plymouth and Blackpool.

At the other end of League One Cardiff City moved to the top after a 3-1 win at a Northampton Town team who have now slipped to 17th place. Posh will move to a point of Cobblers if they beat Stevenage.
