Lisbie has enjoyed such an outstanding first season in the Football League Posh had started fielding multiple enquiries from rival clubs prepared to make transfer bids in the summer.

But Posh have fought off those clubs by tying down their 22 year-old to an improved, and longer, contract which runs until 2030. Lisbie originally signed a three-year deal when moving to Posh from National League Braintree last summer.

He has scored 14 goals in all competitions this season including two hat-tricks, and he’s made 43 appearances, the most in the squad alongside Archie Collins. Lisbie has failed to appear in just two of the 38 League One games played by Posh.

Posh boss Luke Williams was delighted. He said: “It’s so refreshing to see hard work and performance being rewarded. Kyrell has been excellent since I’ve been here. He has performed so well with so many goals, assists and other big actions. The new contract is positive news for everyone at the club.

"It’s not easy doing what Kyrell has done in his first season. He’s already enjoyed a breakthrough season and there is still a chunk of games to go. He’s scored hat-tricks and he’s he’s scored and assisted in the same game. He’s also been very robust to be able to play an awful lot of minutes.

"Kyrell has been a menace to every team we have played. It’s so good to see a young, hungry player step onto the pitch and be brave enough to make big actions regardless of knocks and pain.

"The new contract is a reward for all of that and should help to keep him motivated.”
