Former Peterborough United winger appears in court charged with assault
Former Peterborough United winger Nathaniel Mendez-Laing has appeared in court charged with assault.
The 34-year-old appeared at Cannock Magistrates’ Court on Friday (September 11) charged with one count of assault by beating after police were called to his Staffordshire home in June.

Mendez-Laing appeared in the court on crutches and spoke only to confirm his name, address and date of birth.
Judge Joseph O’Connor allowed Mendez-Laing to leave the court on conditional bail, with a trial set to go ahead in January.
The winger played for Posh for three seasons between 2012 and 2015; making a total of 60 appearances and scoring six times.
He was not due to appear against his old side on Saturday anyway due to injury.
