Former Peterborough United boss now in a 3-way tussle to land League Two manager's job
Former Peterborough United boss Darren Ferguson has reportedly made it on to a 3-man shortlist for the Salford City manager’s job.
The PT linked Ferguson with the job last week and now respected national journalist Pete O’Rourke is reporting former Stockport County manager Dave Challinor and ex-Barnsley boss Conor Hourihane are also under consideration for a job that has been some thing of a poisoned chalice under the ownership of TV pundit Gary Neville.

Salford surprisingly sacked former MK Dons boss Karl Robinson after he led them to a fourth-place finish in League Two last season. Salford lost the play-off final 3-0 to Notts County at Wembley.
Ferguson has won promotion twice from League Two, with Posh in 2007-08 and with Doncaster Rovers in 2016-17. His fourth-spell at Posh ended with the sack after a home defeat to Blackpool last October. Ferguson was linked with the vacant Leicester City job earlier in the summer, but his former Posh skipper Russell Martin in now favourite for that job.
Salford have spent the last 7 seasons in League Two. They have had 5 managers in that time. Robinson, Gary Bowyer, Neil Wood, Graham Alexander and Richie Wellens.
