Dons boss knew frustrated Fergie would rally Posh for the second-half, but he was disappointed with how his side reacted

New AFC Wimbledon manager Mark Robinson was disappointed his players didn’t react well to a second-half onslaught at Peterborough United today (February 20).

The struggling Dons played well before the break at the Weston Homes Stadium when they often looked the better side.

But Posh stepped up a gear after the break, as Robinson expected, and romped to a 3-0 win, an 11th in 14 home matches this season.

“I knew they would come at us after the break,” Robinson, who was in charge officially for the first time, said. “I could see Darren Ferguson was getting angry in the first-half, He looked frustrated as he marched down the tunnel at half-time so I warned the players they would fly at us.

“I wanted us to react by playing the ball into their half for the first 10 minutes, but instead we tried short passes and twice got caught out for goals. They were poor goals from our point of view.

“I suspected they would flood the side areas as they did, We didn’t react at all, but this is where we are right now. You have to react to changing pictures as a game develop.

“There were some promising moments for us in the first-half and we had a great chance to get a goal back at 2-0.

“It didn’t happen and then we had a break because of Shayon Harrison’s injury when I was disappointed that no-one on the pitch was trying to rally us and get us going. We were having to do that on the sidelines instead.”

AFC Wimbledon dropped into the relegation zone with this defeat and a last-gasp winner from fellow strugglers Swindon against Crewe.
