Crista off the mark with a decisive match-winning goal for Peterborough United Women at QPR

Malta international Crista Chetcuti Ganado scored her first goal for Posh Women in a friendly success at Queens Park Rangers on Sunday.

Ganad struck the only goal of the game against lower level opposition from close range after good work from skipper Keir Perkins. It was a second win in three behind-closed doors friendlies for Posh who are preparing for a first season at National Premier Division North level.

Posh boss Jake Poole said: “I am pleased for Crista to get her first goal as all strikers want to get off the mark and she was bright and in the right place to score after Keir did well down the right.

"It was another game that we were learned a lot from. We showed a lot of grit and determination to get the victory and that was pleasing to see the girls show that mentality by throwing themselves into blocks and tackles.

"There are things that we didn't do well today, but you will get that sometimes in pre-season, the main objective is to get minutes into the legs and we did that today."

Posh are next in friendly action behind closed doors against as yet unnamed opposition next Sunday (July 26).
