Tough start for Peterborough United Women, but also a chance for revenge
Peterborough United Women have been handed a tough start to their first season in the National League Northern Premier Division.
Posh will travel to Rugby Borough on Sunday, August 16. Rugby finished third in the tier 3 division last season and walloped Posh 7-1 in a Women’s FA Cup tie in November, 2024.
Posh host Liverpool Feds in their first home game on August 15 at PIMS Park and end the season at Stoke City on May 2.
It’s a 12-team division generating 22 fixtures. Posh will also be competing in the FA Women’s Cup and the FA Women’s League Cup. Posh have been placed in a League Cup group with Notts County (home, August 27), Rugby Borough (away, September 6) and Leicester City PGA (home, September 27).
Posh went down 3-0 at Southern Premier Division side Oxford United in a behind closed doors friendly on Tuesday night.
Manager Jake Poole said: "This was a fixture that we put into our schedule as it was an opportunity to stretch the players and to understand where the group is. There were positives to take from the evening's work and some areas that we need to improve on to be competitive at this level.”
Posh are next in action at Queens Park Rangers, again behind closed doors, on Sunday. The Londoners play in a National League division below Posh.
