Bourne sign Bostwick! Another former Posh player joins Stamford AFC and Peterborough Sports lose a third stalwart

Bourne Town have pulled of a major signing coup by bringing former Peterborough United stalwart Michael Bostwick to the club.

The 38 year-old made over 200 Posh appearances after signing from Stevenage in July, 2012. The midfielder who became a centre-back scored 23 goals, many of them fiercely struck penalties.

Bostwick has continued to live locally despite leaving Posh in July, 2017 and playing for Lincoln City, Burton Albion and Boston United as well as returning to Stevenage. He was at St Albans City last season which included a short spell as caretaker-manager.

Bourne retained their position in the Northern Premier Midlands Division despite finishing in the bottom 4. Bourne have also retained the services of Zak Allen, Connor Furey, ex-Posh youth team goalkeeper Will Lakin, Aaron Eyett and Brad Marshall for the 2026-27 season.

And former Posh youth team striker Tyler Winters has joined Stamford AFC. Winters (20) never earned a Posh senior contract, but has played locally for Spalding United, Peterborough Sports and AFC Rushden & Diamonds. He was sacked by Diamonds last season after a contretemps with teammate Bruno Andrade on the pitch which led to both players being sent off.

The signing will be warmly welcomed by Stamford fans who have seen 5 players leave and join Peterborough Sports since the end of the last season.

Sports, who will play in the same Southern Premier Division Central Division as Stamford next season, have seen three senior players leave PIMS Park.

Midfielder Dan Jarvis has joined goalkeeper Peter Crook and striker Mark Jones in departing Sports. Jarvis wants to stay at step 2 level. He has been at Sports for 6 years and his availability might interest Spalding United who have replaced the city club in National League North.
