Blasts from the past and the present as strikers with Peterborough United links bang in the goals

On-loan Peterborough United striker Pemi Aderoju scored four goals for Eastbourne in a 6-0 win over Hampton and Richmond in a National League South fixture on Saturday.

The striker doubled his tally for the season for the team next-to-bottom in the table. Aderoju has made two first-team substitute appearances for Posh after arriving from Biggleswade in 2024. Among his teammates at Eastbourne is former Posh striker Kai Corbett.

On-loan Posh youngster Andre Changunda played 30 minutes as a substitute for AFC Totton in the same division yesterday as they were crushed 5-0 at home by Dagenham & Redbridge. Former England striker Andy Carroll scored a 32-minute hat-trick for ‘The Daggers.’ Ex-Posh forward Scott Rendell also plays for Totton.

Former Posh Golden Boot winner Britt Assombalonga scored on his first League Two start for Barnet yesterday. The 32 year-old was on target in a 1-1 home draw with Harrogate.

Ex-Posh winger Nat Mendez-Laing scored from the penalty spot as MK Dons kept up their promotion challenge in the fourth tier with a 2-1 home win over Fleetwood and old Posh goalkeeper Joe Day saved a penalty in Cheltenham’s 2-0 loss at Colchester United.

In League One one-time Posh loanee Kyle Dempsey scored Bolton’s goal in a 1-1 draw at Luton Town and in the Championship Ephron Mason-Clark was involved in two Coventry City goals as the Championship leaders came from behind to beat Charlton Athletic 3-1. Posh will receive a £1 million bonus if Coventry win promotion under the terms of Mason-Clarke’s transfer. The Sky Blues are currently 10 points clear at the top.

Former loanee forward Callum Morton, who played for Posh at Championship level without scoring, has signed for League Two strugglers Bristol Rovers. Morton had been without a club since leaving Salford at the end of last season. He came on as a late substitute as Rovers lost 1-0 to 10-man Notts County yesterday.

Former Posh striker Dave Hibbert has been appointed set-piece coach at Wycombe Wanderers. Hibbert was previously head coach of Stoke City Under 21s. Injury-prone Hibbert made just one start for Posh and scored just one goal in the 2010-11 season.
