Big Braintree benefits from Kyrell Lisbie's move from Peterborough United to MIllwall are revealed
National League club Braintree are set to rake in £375,000 from the sale of winger Kyrell Lisbie from Peterborough United to Millwall FC.
Lisbie completed a move from Posh to ‘The Lions’ on Sunday with reports putting the transfer fee at between £2.5 million and £3 million.

And now respected ‘in the know’ nation journalist Pete O’Rourke is reporting Braintree, who sold Lisbie to Posh for an undisclosed fee last summer, had a 12.5% sell on clause inserted into the deal. O’Rourke believes that will be worth £375k. Sell on clauses usually relate to the profit made by a future sale.
The money will get Braintree out of a transfer embargo according to O’Rourke.
Meanwhile Millwall FC have revealed they had been chasing Lisbie since January. Lisbie was playing Isthmian League football for Cray Valley Paper Mills as recently as 2024. From there he moved to National League Braintree and then on to Posh in League One.
Now he’s a Championship player after Millwall persuaded Posh to part with a breakout star of the 2025-26 season. Lisbie scored 14 goals in all competitions last season, but he might have to be patient to get his first-team chance with The Lions.
"I'm delighted to bring Kyrell to the club," said Steve Gallen, the Millwall director of football. "We’ve been keen on him for some time and enquired about him in last January’s transfer window, so this one’s been a while in the making.
"Kyrell had a real breakout season last year at Peterborough, with an excellent goals and assists record that speaks for itself. He can play left or right-wing, he’s quick, direct, and he’s got a real hunger to score goals and create chances.
"Although he’s 22, he’s still relatively new to first-team football, so we’ll be patient as he integrates into the squad and adapts to the demands of Championship football.
"He’s our sixth signing of the summer, and it continues a clear pattern in how we’ve recruited this window - building a young, hungry squad with real potential to grow. The talent and the appetite are clearly there with Kyrell, and we’re excited to see what he can bring to this team."
Lisbie said he didn’t take much persuading to make the switch. He told Millwall TV: “I had a good conversation with the manager who said he liked the type of player I am, a winger who scores goals, gets on the end of things at the back post and who works hard off the ball. I didn’t take a of of convincing to join such a massive club.”
No Posh official has yet commented on Lisbie’s departure. The club instead posted a message on their website saying: ‘We would like to thank Kyrell for his contribution last season and wish him well for the future.’
Officially the transfer fee will remain undisclosed. Lisbie has signed a long-term deal with no specific length revealed.
