Are Peterborough United really set for a reunion with Darren Ferguson in League One next season?

If the bookies are to be believed then Peterborough United and Darren Ferguson will meet again next season.

The legendary Posh boss has been out of a job since he was sacked from his fourth spell in charge of the club. Posh were bottom at the time and only ended up staying in the league by four points after Luke Williams took over.

Ferguson has, however, shot right to the top of the betting lists, with providers such as TalkSport Bet, to be the next Leicester manager after various sources claimed that contact had been made between the two parties.

Leicester will play in League One for the first time since the 2008/09 season after suffering back-to-back relegations.

In that season, Leicester and Posh went head-to-head for the title with the Foxes ultimately finishing seven points ahead of Posh in second place.

Current boss Gary Rowett has overseen Leicester’s drop into the third tier and was only contracted until the end of the season. He has signalled his intention that he wants to remain in charge next season but a decision on this is yet to be made.

If he took the job, Ferguson would be a heavy favourite to deliver his sixth promotion as a manager and his fourth from League One.
