And then there were three...who can still go down and Peterborough United are one of them

Peterborough United’s are now one of only three teams who can still be relegated from League One after a 3-1 defeat at Stockport County on Saturday.

Thanks to a 1-1 draw between Burton Albion and Exeter City, Posh now need just one point from two home matches against Mansfield Town on Tuesday (April 28, 7.45pm kick-off) and Doncaster Rovers on the final day of the season (May 2, 3pm).

Even if Posh lose both games there would have to a seven-goal goal difference swing between them and Exeter who have one game to play at home to Bradford City. Bradford still need a point to guarantee themselves a play-off place. The Posh goal difference is currently -2 while Exeter’s is -8, but Posh have scored more goals (63-51) which would be the tiebreaker if the goal difference was the same.

For instance if Posh lost both games by one goal Exeter would need to beat Bradford by five goals to jump above Luke Williams’ side.

Orient are the only other team who can be relegated after their 1-0 loss at Blackpool today. If they win at home to Burton Albion next week, Exeter would not be able to catch them. Orient are currently a point behind Posh.

Burton, Blackpool and AFC Wimbledon secured their safety today. Wimbledon won 1-0 at Wigan with a 90th minute goal.

Bolton Wanderers secured their play-off place with a 1-1 draw at Bradford today. Stockport will join them if they pick up a point from their final two matches.

Stevenage need to win their final game at home to Wigan to be sure of finishing in the top six with Luton (away to Bolton) and Plymouth (away to Cobblers) waiting for any slip ups.
