All conquering Peterborough United Women seal a fabulous season with a National League title success

A 5-0 victory at Kidderminster Harriers sealed the deal for Posh who are unbeaten after winning 18 of their 20 league games. Their domination has been so complete they’ve scored 78 goals and conceded just 12, and they still have two games to go, starting at Sheffield FC next Sunday (April 19).

The champagne has been on ice for several weeks as Posh have been title favourites, virtually from the season’s kick off back in August, even though there was only one automatic promotion place. Posh will play Regional Premier Division football next season.

If there were any nerves ahead of a game against relegation battlers they were soon settled. It was 1-0 after 10 minutes when midfielder Niamh Reynolds tucked a shot into the corner after latching on to a Jess Rousseau pass.

Lauren Wilshaw struck the woodwork on 16 minutes with a long-range shot, but two minutes later it was 2-0 when Niamh Connor headed home. The centre-back repeated the trick six minutes later for 3-0 and captain Keir Perkins made it 4-0 on the half hour mark after good work from Evie Driscoll-King and Rousseau.

Posh took that lead into the second-half which was just five minutes old when Anna Pitt delivered a fine finish.

Posh kept pushing, but were denied further goals by some good goalkeeping and brave defending before celebrations, which were expected to go on for a while, could start.
