It persuaded me to nominate the top 20 players, in my 50 years following Posh, who I have enjoyed watching the most.
I’ve included two current stars, but I’ve had to leave some top players on the sidelines
In reverse order….
9. 12th: FREDDIE HILL
My first Posh hero. The classy midfield presence in a team that won the 1973-74 Division Four title. The picture is from a minute's applause from a game last season after Hill had passed away. Photo: Joe Dent
10. 11th DWIGHT GAYLE
I have never seen a more natural finisher in a Posh shirt, with either foot and his head. Technically superb and his stay at Posh was far too short. Photo: Alan Storer
11. 10th RONNIE EDWARDS
So calm and composed on the ball at such a young age and a much improved defender. It’s a mystery he remains in League One. Photo: Joe Dent
12. 9th: BOBBY DOYLE
His thrilling bursts from midfield made a great impression on me. Photo: David Lowndes
