It persuaded me to nominate the top 20 players, in my 50 years following Posh, who I have enjoyed watching the most.
I’ve included two current stars, but I’ve had to leave some top players on the sidelines
In reverse order….
17. SIMON DAVIES
The midfielder remains the best player to emerge from the Posh Youth team ranks. Played with dash, drive and determination. Photo: David Lowndes
18. 3: IVAN TONEY
Posh helped turn him into a beast of a striker, one who could pretty much turn games on his own. Photo: Joe Dent
19. 2: CRAIG MACKAIL-SMITH
A speedy striker with a great attitude and it was a joy to see how quickly he improved his finishing and his technical expertise. Photo: Paul Marriott
20. 1: TONY ADCOCK
A Posh version of Teddy Sheringham. Not the quickest, but oozed class and possessed incredible vision. Key to a Posh promotion to the old Division One in 1992 and in Posh recording a 10th place finish in the second tier which remains a club record high. Photo: David Lowndes
