The former England shot-stopper made 100 Posh appearances between 1982-1984, before going on to win three Premier League titles, four FA Cups, one League Cup and a European Cup Winners Cup with Arsenal.
Nowadays Ivan Toney may well take that accolade thanks to his Premier League exploits which nearly won him a spot in England’s 2022 World Cup squad.

9. Gary Breen (1994-96, 86 games)
There aren't many former Posh players to have scored in a World Cup Finals, but this stylish centre-back did, netting for the Republic of Ireland against Saudi Arabia in 2002. Posh sold Breen to Birmingham who moved him on to Coventry City where he played for five seasons, four of them in the top flight. Photo: Michael Steele

10. Simon Davies (1997-99, 75 games)
It was a sad day when he left for Spurs aged 20 for a reported fee of £700k, but he went on to do his first club proud in a career that also included top-flight spells with Everton and Fulham. Photo: Shaun Botterill

11. Martin Carruthers (1996-1999, 67 games)
Martin Carruthers had three seasons with Posh in the late 1990', scoring 21 goals. He began his career at Aston Villa, making three appearances in the old First Division and one in the Premier League. Photo: Dan Smith

12. Darren Caskey (2004/05, 4 games)
It is a spell at posh that many fans may not even remember as Caskey only made four appearances for Posh. Fans will no doubt remember him as a Spurs player in the early to mid-90's. Photo: Simon Bruty
