Peterborough Sports seek a morale-boosting derby day success at Kettering Town

Peterborough Sports seek a morale-boosting first win of the Southern Premier Division Central season at neighbours Kettering Town on Saturday (3pm kick off).

The bid to make an immediate bounce back to National League North level has not gone to plan for Sports so far. They’ve picked up just one point from their opening three matches and travel to Latimer Park on the back of two home defeats.

In contrast ‘The Poppies’ are unbeaten in their opening three games, two of which have been won.

Sports boss Graham Drury said: “There should be a good crowd at the game. Kettering fans always give me grief because of my time managing Corby, but I love the banter and that drives me on.

“Kettering are a solid side though. They are compact out of possession and dangerous going forward as they have plenty of pace.”

Sports summer signing, midfielder Michael Ricens, serves the fourth and final match of a four-game suspension carried over from last season, while others are facing late fitness tests.

Kettering have several former Sports’ players in their ranks including defender Aaron Powell, midfielder Will Van Lier and forwards Shaun Jeffers and Michael Gyasi.
