Peterborough Sports beaten by three goals in four minutes by title challengers
Peterborough Sports shipped three goals in four minutes to drop back into the National League North relegation zone on Saturday.
Sports contained title challengers South Shields quite comfortably in a goalless first-half at PIMS Park, but the city side fell apart in the early part of the second-half, conceding goals in the 48th, 50th and 51st minutes.

Naturally the rapid scoring spree knocked the stuffing out of Sports and the 3-0 defeat meant they are now in the bottom four again with 11 games to go. Phil Brown’s side are probably in must-win territory when Southport visit PiMS Park next Saturday (March 7, 3pm kick off).
A Shaquile Coulthirst header from a Marcel Oakley cross which was saved was Sports’ best moment before the break, while home ‘keeper Sam Edwards did well to deny Sonny Finch at his near post.
But the floodgates opened after Paul Blackett’s deflected strike defeated Edwards. Lennon Wheeldon promptly cracked a low shot through a crowded penalty area into the back of the net before Blackett immediately struck again after pouncing on a poor clearance from Edwards.
Edwards did well to deny Blackett a rapid hat-trick and he was on form again to help Oakley keep out Dan Ward.
Sports offered little in reply until added time when Jez Davies strode clear only for Shields’ keeper Tom Watson to save with his legs.
