New contract for free-scoring Spalding United star, Bourne Town win a thriller at the death, a romp for Netherton United, a rare defeat for March Town
Goal machine Bart Cybulski has signed a contract extension at Spalding United.
The Polish centre forward has committed to ‘The Tulips’ until the end of the 2027-28 season after his 11-goal start to the current campaign with the National League North club. Spalding acted after other high-level non-league clubs started showing an interest in the player
Cybulski wasn’t involved as Spalding eased to a 3-1 win at Stamford AFC in a Lincs Senior Cup tie on Tuesday night. Cameron Barton, Dion Sembie-Ferris and Jack Roberts (penalty) scored for Spalding who fielded a much-changed team. Alfie Fisken had dragged Stamford level in the first-half.
Bourne Town won a thrilling Northern Premier Midland Division game against St Ives Town 4-3 at the Abbey Lawn. Recent signing Dan Forbes made it four goals in two games for ‘The Wakes’ with two goals in the opening 10 minutes, but the visitors hit back to lead 3-2 at the break. Zak Allen levelled for Bourne in the second-half before Lewis Darlington bagged an injury time winner.
Former Peterborough Sports striker Mark Jones scored for St Ives. His brother Richard was in direct opposition in the Bourne back four.
Yaxley and FC Peterborough were both beaten in the United Counties Premier Division South by a single goal. Kieran Hibbins claimed the Yaxley consolation goal at Eynesbury Rovers.
Netherton United made progress in the Thurlow Nunn League Cup with a 5-1 romp at Newmarket Reserves. Kieran Pledger, Jordan Neil, Adulai Balde, Kyial West and Connor Gibbs scored for the city side.
Second-placed March Town lost for the first time in the Thurlow Nunn Premier Division, 2-0 at Dereham Town.
