Marquee signing for Spalding United, ins and outs at Deeping Rangers, pre-season friendly results
Spalding United have made a marquee signing ahead of their first National League North campaign
Midfielder Shane Byrne has huge experience of step one, as well as step two, in non league football after spells with Boston United, Kidderminster Harriers and Brackley Town. Byrne was at Leicester City as a youngster and the 33 year-old has played in the Football League for Bury. He was released by Brackley last season after their relegation from the National League.

Deeping Rangers have announced the signings of Gregg Smith & Scott Floyd from Newark and Sherwood, Aaron Watson from Wisbech Town, Will Bestwick from Blackstones and Tom Wakley from Melton Town.
Deeping have seen David Burton‑Jones, Spencer Tinkler, Tom Smith, Theo Braham and Josh Randall depart ahead of their United Counties Premier Division season. Randall has joined higher level Bourne Town.
Deeping drew 2-2 at FC Peterborough in a friendly on Saturday. Ryan Cook and Lewis Arber scored their goals with Vitor Vaz netting twice for the city side, including a stunning equaliser.
In other Saturday friendlies Bourne won 5-0 at Pinchbeck, March Town beat visitors St Ives 3-0, Holbeach United drew 0-0 at home to Blackstones and Netherton United drew a remarkable game 6-6 against Soham Town at ‘The Grange.’
