Renowned local team withdraw from Saturday cricket, plus 2026 league constitutions and National Cup draw
Ufford Park Cricket Club have scrapped their Saturday team because of a shortage of players.
The villagers have been members of either the Cambs League or Hunts League for the last 28 years. Before that they played friendly cricket on one of the more picturesque grounds in the area.
Ufford finished bottom of Cambs Division Three last season after winning just one of their 17 completed matches. They would been relegated into Hunts Division One if they had continued.
The club will still run two teams in the Rutland League on Sundays. The first team will play in Division One with the second team in Division Five.
The constitution for some local leagues has now been set, although fixtures have yet to be announced.
Market Deeping have returned to the Rutland League. They will play in Division Five where Sawtry & Alconbury will compete after their amalgamation.
Cambs Division One champions Ramsey Town will play in the high-class East Anglia Premier Division in 2026 after winning a play-off competition.
