Peterborough Police Boxing Club fighters dominate on home ground

Peterborough Police Boxing Club delivered some great results at their own show at the Queen Katherine Academy in Walton.

Seven of their 12 boxers tasted victory with Ryan Davies winning the ‘fighter of the night’ prize from sponsor Jaz Singh. Connor Dane took the ‘best runner-up’ award.

* Imraan Shirazi (15) beat Leonard Herne (Epic Golden Gloves) on points thanks to a quality performance against a well-schooled opponent.

* Exciting young fighter Reggie Baker (11) didn’t need to get out of first gear to beat Jayden Brown from Downham Market with a first round stoppage.

* Aamir Sirazi (12) showed his awesome all-round skills to beat Yuvy Kaira from Golden Ring ABC on points.

* Shae Gowler (14) beat Rhys Mann from Sheffield Boxing Centre comfortably on points.

* Subhan Raja (15) couldn’t find his range against a much taller fighter Archie Nixon from Harlow ABC and lost on points.

* Connor Dane (16) lost a superb fight against Tyler Chambers from Boxing Stables BC on points. He started aggressively to win the first round, but then allowed his opponent to settle and pinch the last two rounds.

* Jaan’sher Raja (17) in just his second three-round bout followed instructions perfectly to beat Tommy Petchell from Albion ABC on points.

* Brian Lawler came out on top of a high quality elite senior heavyweight bout against Joe Bonito from Halstead ABC. Lawlow won on points against a tough opponents.

* Alisher Raja (16) was an unlucky loser on points against Billy Cowling from South Normanton ABC after a fine counter-punching display.

* Danish Asif was also pipped on points by Nassier Luqman from Northampton ABC after a pulsating senior elite bout at 64kg.

* Ryan Davies forced a standing count of John Smith from Fenland Sparta ABC in a senior elite 70kg bout which he won on points after a skilful clash.

* Taylor Frisby gave his all in the top of the bill 72kg bout against Meshach Clements from Northampton ABC, but was just beaten on points.

Taylor was drawn into a thrilling to -to-toe brawl when keeping at distance would have suited his own strengths.

Clements took the verdict after a highly-skilled contest between two classy fighters.
