UKHSA upgrades Peterborough’s 5-day heat health alert to amber with temperatures forecast to hit nearly 30C
The alert has warned of a rise in deaths due to high temperatures
The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) has upgraded Peterborough’s heat health alert to amber, with high temperatures expected over the coming days.
Four amber alerts have been issued by the UKHSA, covering the South East, South West, London and East of England.
Peterborough’s alert came into effect at 12pm today (Thursday, June 18) and will expire at 8pm next Tuesday (June 23).

The alert says that significant impacts are likely across health and social care services due to the high temperatures.
This could result in a rise in deaths, particularly among those aged 65 and over or with health conditions.
The UKHSA alert also says that the heat could affect the ability of the workforce to deliver services.
Temperatures in Peterborough are forecast to hit 29C over the coming days.
