STORM WARNING: Met Office puts Peterborough on alert for thunder and lightning

More heavy rain and thunder storms could hit Peterborough today (Tuesday), the Met Office has warned.

Hide AdThe warning says: “Heavy showers and thunderstorms are expected during Tuesday, with some localised disruption possible
“What should I expect?
“There is a good chance driving conditions will be affected by spray, standing water and/or hail, leading to longer journey times by car and bus
“Some flooding of a few homes and businesses likely, leading to some damage to buildings or structures, especially across the southeast of the area where highest rainfall most likely
“Probably some damage to a few buildings and structures from lightning strikes
“Delays to train services are possible

The storm warning comes after last month was one of the wettest on record in Peterborough, with heavy rain causing localised flooding and disruption.
