Last month was the driest month on record, with just 0.2mm of rain recorded - but after the deluge seen across the city over the past 24 hours, Peterborough has already smashed through the June average for rainfall..
A total of 24.8mm has fallen today - around half the monthly average for June

Trev Robbins-Pratt, from Peterborough Weather Watch said 13.7mm of rain had been recorded in the city in just one day yesterday. He said; “The monthly average in Peterborough over June is around 51mm, so for a total of 24.8mm to be recorded by me in one day, it’s quite impressive. But a more impressive total was recorded by a friend to our East nr Wisbech, who actually recorded over 35mm yesterday, whereas I recorded ‘only’ 13.7mm
“I have so far recorded 67.1mm this month so we are already above the monthly average.
“The thundery activity over the past few days due to convection. Parcels of warm air rising into ‘unstable’ air and all that energy converts into heavy showers and thunderstorms. There is still a risk of some showers for the rest of day, but not longer spells of rain.”

Trev said: “It is a drier theme through the rest of the week, and into next week, although there is still a risk of some showers.
“It looks like it is turning very warm for a time next week as well.”
