Peterborough finally set for rain this week but temperatures to remain high - full forecast
The city has endured an exceptionally dry summer so far
After weeks of dry, sunny weather, rain is finally expected to fall in Peterborough this week - but gardeners shouldn’t rejoice just yet.
The city has endured an exceptionally hot and dry summer so far, with a number of records dating back to the infamous summer of 1976 smashed.
A lack of rain has resulted in Peterborough being placed under a hosepipe ban by Anglian Water, meaning residents cannot use water for things like watering plants or cleaning cars.

While forecasters anticipate a more changeable period towards the end of July, temperatures are expected to remain high.
Those hoping for significant rainfall are likely to be disappointed, with just 5mm expected for most parts of eastern England over the week ahead.
But some rain is expected to fall in Peterborough over the coming days, providing brief respite from the unrelenting heat.
When could it rain in Peterborough this week?
According to the current BBC Weather forecast, rain could fall in Peterborough on Wednesday (July 22) and Sunday (July 26).
Wednesday could bring some light rain showers between 2pm and 4pm, while Sunday’s forecast shows a morning of drizzle.
This week daily highs will fluctuate between 22C and 27C, with cloud expected to make things feel slightly cooler compared to last week.
