Resurfacing works to close A47 and A1 in Peterborough

A series of overnight closures affecting the busy A47 and A1 in Peterborough are to come into affect next month.

The measures, which will see traffic diverted weeknights for a number of weeks, are designed to enable carriageway resurfacing, road markings, sign replacement, survey, technology, lighting and bridge works and general routine maintenance works to be carried out in safety.

The works would be carried out in five phases, overnight (8pm to 6am) starting on or after Monday, February 8.

Phase 1 involves the A47 eastbound and westbound carriageways between the east roundabout at Wansford Interchange and the A47/A15 Dogsthorpe/Paston Parkway Roundabout; diverting traffic off the A47 at Wansford Interchange, then via the A1, A1139 and A15 to re-join the A47 at the A47/A15 Dogsthorpe/Paston Parkway Roundabout; vice versa for westbound traffic.

Phase 2: for four nights starting on or after February 15 at A47/A1 Wansford Interchange, alternately, the A1– northbound and southbound.

Phase 3: for five nights starting on or after February 15 at the A47 eastbound and westbound carriageways between the exit and entry slip roads at J19, Fullbridge/Paston Interchange.

Phase 4: for five weeks (weeknights only) starting on or after February 16 at the A1(M)/A1 northbound carriageway from the exit slip road leading to Peterborough South (Fletton Parkway) Interchange at A1(M) Junction 17 to the entry slip road leading from the A47 at Wansford Interchange.

Phase 5: for one night starting on or after March 26 at the A47 eastbound carriageway from J17 to J18, Bretton Way Interchange.
