Residents urged to report further expected damage to roads as growing sinkhole repaired

Residents in Peterborough have been asked to report any issues they spot on the city’s roads after a growing sinkhole was repaired.

Peterborough City Council responded to calls earlier this week regarding a large sinkhole that has opened up on Fane Road in Walton.

After being contacted by residents, Cllr Rafiq reported the sinkhole to the council and contractors arrived within 20 minutes to resolve the issue.

The road surface will now be monitored to check on the quality of repair and to see if further works are required.

“The weather has been causing a lot of issues with the roads. We have had heatwaves and then rain and a lot of cold that has caused lots of gaps in the repairs that need to be done on the roads.

"With the longer of summers and hotter weather, it is only going to cause more cracks.

"It seems this is going to become more of a common thing and we urge residents to contact us as soon as they see these kinds of things so they can be expected and repaired as necessary.”
