“Trains are able to run in the Ely direction between March and Ely because the broken down train is only blocking the Peterborough-bound track.

“To minimise disruption, there will be no EMR services between March and Norwich in either direction. This is because if we allow trains to travel past the broken down train in the Ely direction, we can’t then get them back towards Nottingham until the broken down train has been moved.

“We are expecting the broken down train to now not be moved clear until at least 18:00. As soon as the train has moved, our priority will be to get trains running to their advertised times again. We are currently unable to estimate when we will have our normal timetable service resumed and we are expected this disruption to last for the rest of the day.

“For most of the route, you may continue to travel as originally planned. We are sorry for the delay to your journey today.
