Further month-long lane closure on troubled bridge between Peterborough and Whittlesey

A further month long lane closure is set to begin on a bridge between Peterborough and Whittlesey.

Work to resurface the Ralph Butcher Causeway at Kings Dyke is to be carried out under a road closure between July 13 and August 16.

The road will be controlled by temporary traffic lights during this time. The contractor will be resurfacing the road to provide a smoother and more durable road surface.

There will also be a weekend road closure in place, from August 14 to 16. A signed diversion route will be in place via the A47.

The bridge has been beset by problems since it was first completed in July 2022 and only fully reopened in February after operating under single-lane traffic controls due to emergency repairs to cracking and subsidence issues all the way from July 2025.
