A1 at Peterborough remains shut as it is three feet under water

The A1 at Peterborough is still closed because flooding has left it three feet underwater.

The road is currently closed between the A47 junction and the junction with the Fletton Parkway.

There is currently no indication of when the road will re-open.

Highways England tweeted: "Fields and dykes are all full. The river has also burst its banks so it will take longer for this water to clear.

The A605 at Oundle is also partially blocked by flood waters.

Several other roads are closed in the south of Peterborough and the surrounding areas as a result of the heavy rain. Railway services have also been disrupted as a result of the floods.

The Environment Agency has a number of flood warnings in place across the regionIf residents have to travel, they are advised to check routes before setting off on their journey.
